Emma Wilson - Teaching Portfolio 2010.

Teachers reflect on and evaluate and improve their professional practice and knowledge.

In the classroom, theory and practice can often have two very different outcomes and as a teacher it is important to constantly reflect on, evaluate, my professional knowledge and teaching strategies, both individually and collectively in order to improve my practice.

I have found the tool of reflection to provide enormous assistance to my future planning, sometimes concepts and plans work well and sometimes they do not, reflection allows me to build on my skills and adapt my ideas in future planning.
I utilise the self reflection technique of Two stars and a wish  considering two things that worked well and one thing that can be improved upon in the future.

I encourage my students to use self reflection as a tool to regulate their learning and progress.

“Emma's constant reflection and refinement of her teaching is to be admired. She strives for
excellence and has taken on all feedback, integrating it into her lessons, ensuring  constant
improvement.”
