During my time at Melbourne Girls  Grammar I was given the opportunity to plan for both Literacy and Mathematics for all grade 2 classes during weeks 6 and 7 in Term 2 2010. click on links above to open

I found this to be an extremely helpful task as I analysed what I was teaching and ensured I took into account individual differences, resources and technology that could enhance student learning experiences. I used VELS extensively throughout my planning to guide and benchmark my assessment.

I used the interactive white board to assist students to visualise flip, slide and turn using various 2D shapes highly engaging and visual tool to assist student learning. When teaching tessellation it was highly beneficial when modelling flip, slide and turn using movable 2D shapes on the IWB  and I used this in conjunction with tessellation tiles, workbooks and tasks on computer.

During my literacy planning for the week, we focused on the key components of an information report about the  extinction of rhinoceros in Africa, and used a visual graphic organiser (see above) for students to group key ideas and topic sentences. I then used the IWB to model and highlight topic sentences.
